Our Work > Research

We aim to support the development of a body of research evidence that underpins countries’ educational needs.
We provide a wide variety of research services, from large, multi-country research projects such as the Pacific Island Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (PILNA) and Pacific Benchmarking for Education Results (PaBER), to working with individual researchers in local settings.
We also provide advisory support for research, conduct workshops to raise capacity in conducting educational research, and professional research services at country, regional and international levels.

 How we do this

We work with our member countries to conduct educational research which can inform countries plans and practice to improve educational achievement standards in the region.

We offer support for educational research by developing capacity in national educations systems in improving the quality of education.

We focus on the following areas:

  • Design, implementation, reporting and review of educational assessment research.

  •  Large-scale, multi-country educational assessment research.
  • Literacy and numeracy benchmarking.

  • Sampling techniques.

  • Interviewing, focus groups, surveys and other forms of data collection.

  • Implementation and facilitation of educational interventions and impact assessment.

  • Supporting member countries in terms of educational policy, planning and practice.

  • Training of local researchers to enable them to gain competency with research skills.
